THE government might impose enhanced movement control orders (EMCO) on areas in Kuala Lumpur if the number of Covid-19 cases continues to climb, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Kuala Lumpur has been experiencing a marked increase in the number of positive Covid-19 cases, with 469 reported yesterday.

“Today, I have announced an EMCO on Top Glove dormitories in Klang, including the nearby areas.

“So, in Wilayah (Kuala Lumpur), there is also the possibility for EMCO.

“However, this will be advised by the Health Ministry based on the projected infection rate,” he told the daily briefing on Covid-19 movement restrictions.

The Health Ministry has not made such recommendations, he added.

Ismail Sabri said the National Security Council is discussing rules for travel between green zones in the country.

“For example, Pulau Langkawi and Sabak Bernam are both green zone areas, how do we allow a safe crossing to happen?

“Perhaps, travellers can apply for a letter from the police station to verify that they are from Sabak Bernam before travelling out.”

Ismail Sabri said the NSC is in talks with the Tourism Ministry, and more details will be given soon. – November 16, 2020.
