EXTREMISM should be avoided at all cost and Malaysians should “adhere” to each other’s religion to ensure that harmony and peace is maintained, Prime Minister Najib Razak said today.

“We must ensure that extremism do not influence us in any way as there will be extremists among us, whether Buddhists, Muslims, Christians or Hindus.

“We should all be moderate at heart so that we can reject extremism,” Najib said in his speech during the national Wesak Day reception at the Samadhi Vihara Temple in Shah Alam today.

He also said that Malaysians should commit to working together to ensure Malaysia can continue to be an international example to be looked up to.

“Let us commit to the true meaning of our religions… working together on the basis of mutual respect and understanding,” Najib said.

Najib also said the TN50 (Transformasi Nasional) plan is not only focused on material terms but also towards a better Malaysia.

“Let us choose our words wisely and let us build a Malaysia that is kinder and gentler. TN50 is not just about being more advanced in material terms, but also in the future to reflect a Malaysian society that has strong and positive values,” said Najib. – May 10, 2017.
