PERSATUAN Anak Peneroka Felda (Anak), an organisation of second-generation Felda settlers, has lodged a police report over the ownership transfer of a piece of Felda property in Kuala Lumpur valued at more than RM200 million.

Anak president Mazlan Aliman said the report, lodged at the Johor Baru police station this morning, was the first of many more to come by other Felda groups nationwide.

“The police report was lodged at the Central Johor Baru police station this morning, at 10.30am, by seven people.

It will be followed by similar reports by Felda groups around the country,” Mazlan told The Malaysian Insight.

The report urged authorities to immediately investigate the issue, and charge those involved if elements of fraud were found in the transfer of ownership of the property in Jalan Semarak.

The Malay-language Berita Harian daily on Wednesday reported that the property, valued at more than RM200 million, was transferred under peculiar circumstances in 2015 during the tenure of former Felda chairman Isa Abdul Samad.

It said the transactions involved seven towers, including Felda’s iconic development, Kuala Lumpur Vertical City.

Citing sources, Berita Harian said the company appointed by Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC) on June 3, 2014, was given full power of attorney to develop it.

The development, however, was only revealed to the Felda board of directors three months later, on September 2, for backdated approval.

In response to the news, Felda chairman Shahrir Abdul Samad said it had lodged a police report after finding elements of fraud in the transfer.

He said the elements of fraud involved a company, Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd, that was given power of attorney to develop the land.

Isa was Felda chairman from 2011 to January this year before he was replaced by Shahrir, who is also Johor Baru MP.

Isa was also the chairman of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd from January 1, 2011, to June 19 this year, and was FIC chairman since its inception on July 2, 2013, until this year.

He is now acting chairman of the Land Public Transport Commission. – December 22, 2017.
