ACTION will be taken against Malaysians who sublet their business licences to foreigners, said Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa.
According to Annuar, the rules were clear that people doing so will be blacklisted and their licence revoked.
“Foreigners are not allowed to own any business licences, which are only for Malaysian citizens,” he said during a visit to Taman Segar in Cheras this morning.
“There have been a few representatives who have approached me to be a bit more flexible but I have told them that there cannot be any compromises on this,” he added.
He said he would not entertain any appeal regarding foreigners wanting to own a business licence as it was not allowed under the law.
“Our people are already suffering with the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic. Seeing foreigners owning businesses will further dishearten and discourage them.
“I want those who have information to either report to me or the authorities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Annuar said his ministry was firm in not allowing foreigners to work at Kuala Lumpur wholesale market in Selayang.
He again urged wholesalers to stop asking for permission to hire them.
On October 23, Kuala Lumpur City Hall issued a notice informing wholesalers they were only allowed to hire Malaysian workers from January 1, 2021.
Anyone failing to comply with the rules will risk losing their business licence, according to the minister. – December 20, 2020.
