FOREIGN students will be allowed to enter the country to pursue their studies from January, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“This will be implemented to all the students around the world, except those from the UK.

“The cost of the swab test must be paid by the student themselves,” said the senior minister in his daily press conference today.

These students were barred from entering Malaysia following the closure of the nation’s borders to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“The students involved are old students, as well as new students who have received offers from the university.

“Students who are flying in to Malaysia are required to have a hostel before leaving their country,” he said.

It was reported last week that those flying in from overseas are required to undergo a swab test three days prior to their flight, and once they arrive at KLIA, do another swab test.

“Once they test negative, they will be sent to the quarantine centre,” said Ismail Sabri.

He said that the government is also allowing international school students to enter the country with a guide.

Only those who are current students, who have approved applications and have obtained visas, are allowed. – December 22, 2020.
