More than 250,000 foreign workers tested since December, says Ismail Sabri

A TOTAL of 251,101 foreign workers had undergone Covid-19 screening tests since December 1 last year, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

“Of these, 4,735 were confirmed positive for Covid-19 while another 246,366 were negative,” said the defence minister in his daily press briefing.

The tests included 10,500 employers.

He added that yesterday alone, 8,601 foreign workers were screened for Covid-19, of which 133 were confirmed positive.

He also said that to date, a total of 887 clinics have been involved with these screenings involving foreign workers.

The government has mandated that all employers send their foreign employees for screening, with the cost undertaken by the employers.

Action can be taken against employers who refuse to have their workers tested. – January 30, 2021.
