THE 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial at the Kuala Lumpur High Court was postponed to this afternoon after a witness called in sick this morning.

The 10th prosecution witness, former 1MDB chief executive officer Mohd Hazem Abdul Rahman was set to continue with cross-examination today but he developed a fever.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustafa P. Kunyalam told reporters the prosecution decided not to proceed with him.

“Our next witness is former cabinet deputy chief secretary Mazidah Abdul Majid.

“We asked for time to prepare the next witness, who is a senior citizen. Trial will start at 1pm,” Mustafa said.

High court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah had reminded the prosecution to ensure Hazem takes his Covid-19 swab test.

Former prime minister Najib Razak is facing four charges of using his position to obtain bribes totalling RM2.3 billion from 1MDB funds and 21 charges of money-laundering involving the same amount. – February 10, 2021.
