THE government must allow parliament to convene now that most of its members have received the full course of the Covid-19 vaccine, said Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

She said it was a shame the lawmakers were not allowed to do their jobs while other activities, including those involving large crowds, were allowed.

“Previously the excuse was that most of the MPs are above 60 years old and belong to the high risk group but now we have taken the second dose of the vaccine. We demand it’s time to reopen parliament.

“On April 6, the government will be allowing fans to enter stadiums but we are still not allowed to enter parliament,” she said today outside the Kuala Lumpur Health Clinic, where she and other members of the house were administered their second Covid-19 jab.

The government has said parliament will remain suspended until August, when the emergency ends. – April 5, 2021.
