Ismail Sabri announces EMCO four areas

THREE localities in Sabah and one in Pahang are subject to the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) for two weeks from tomorrow, following increases in Covid-19 cases, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
In Sabah, two areas in Sandakan will be quarantined, as will a housing estate in Tawau and Kg Melangkap Tomis, Kota Belud.
In Pahang, the EMCO affects four villages in Temerloh: Kg Paya Pulai Tengah, Kg Pulau Terap, Paya Pulai-Kg Batu 4 and Paya Pulai-Kg Batu 5, Jalan Maran.
“The EMCO will start tomorrow and end on April 27,” he said in a statement today.
In Sandakan, he said the Ministry of Health had screened 38 people, of which 17 people tested positive in Flat Sim-Sim, while 46 people were screened in Kg Sungai Obar, with 10 positive cases recorded.
In Tawau, 42 people were screened in Taman Villa Mas, with seven positive results. Thirty-five more are awaiting test results.
In Kota Belud, health workers screened 31 people from Kg Melangkap Tomis, with four testing positive.
Ismail Sabri said, in the four villages in Temerloh, 16 people tested positive from 234 tests carried out.
He added that the EMCO in another four areas in Tawau will be extended due to the spike in the number of cases: Ranggu Batu 10 village, Balung, Fasa 2 Taman Semarak, Mukim Balung, Baru Pasir Putih village, Mukim Sri Tanjung, and Simpang 3A village, Merotai Besar.
“The EMCO extension will start from April 15 and end on April 28, except Simpang 3A village, Merotai Besar where it will start April 16 until April 29,” he said. – April 13, 2021.
