THREE more districts in Kelantan will be placed under the movement-control order (MCO) from tomorrow, while three housing estates in Sabah will be under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO), said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

This follows a sharp increase in Covid-19 infections in these places, he said in a press statement today.

The three districts in Kelantan under MCO are Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang. The MCO will last for a week, ending on April 29.

According to him, the Ministry of Health (MoH) reported that there was a 83.9% increase in active cases in 14 days – from 18 cases to 112 cases – and these three districts have been categorised as red zones.

Last week, seven districts in Kelantan were placed under MCO, namely Kota Baru, Pasir Mas, Pasir Puteh, Bachok, Machang, Tumpat and Tanah Merah.

This means the whole of Kelantan will effectively be under MCO until April 29.

Meanwhile, the three housing estates in Sabah under the two-week EMCO starting tomorrow are Taman Aman 3, Taman Aman Jaya and Taman Palm Height in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

Ismail Sabri said a total of 45 positive Covid-19 cases were recorded in the three localities – 24 cases in Taman Aman 3, 10 cases in Taman Aman Jaya and 11 cases in Taman Palm Height.

The EMCO will be effective from April 22 to May 5.

He added that 230 individuals were arrested yesterday for not complying with the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).

Of that number, a total of 228 individuals were compounded while two were remanded. – April 21, 2021.
