KLUANG district in Johor will come under the movement control order (MCO) for two weeks starting May 11 (Tuesday) until May 24, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The senior minister said the decision was made after the health ministry (MOH) reported 512 Covid-19 cases in Kluang, while 3,867 individuals were tested for the virus
In a statement, he said health authorities had also detected four active clusters in the district with a positivity rate of 13%.
“With the implementation of MCO in this area, district or state crossing will not be allowed,” Ismail Sabri said.
He said residents in the areas concerned will have to observe the usual MCO standard operating procedures (SOP).
Ismail Sabri also announced an enhanced MCO (EMCO) for Kampung Keramat in Semporna in Sabah.
He said the area has reported 10 positive cases out of 101 Covid-19 screening tests done.
He also said SOP compliance in the area among residents remains low.
“After doing a risk assessment with MOH, we have decided that EMCO will be implemented here from 11 May to 24 May,” he said.
“This is to ensure that MOH have time to curb the virus within the community,” he said.
