AstraZeneca jabs fully booked in 90 minutes

REGISTRATION for a second round of the AstraZeneca vaccine closed after only 90 minutes with more than a million of the jabs taken. 

The special committee on Covid-19 vaccine supply announced on Twitter that the appointment slots were full for inoculation with the brand of vaccine.

“Those who are eligible will receive an appointment soon. Thank you for your interest in helping the nation achieve herd immunity,” it tweeted at about 1.30pm.

Registration opened today at noon for adults.

Many complained on social media of they had difficulty signing up on the “slow and lagging.” website.

MySejahtera had also tweeted it was facing very high traffic on its application due to the registration. 

“Dear users, we are facing very high traffic at MySejahtera right now. Some of you may not be able to access certain functions. Please log in again later as the traffic clears. Thank you.”

The rollout, which began at 12.15pm today, saw more than 300,000 registrations just in just half an hour after the portal opened, the vaccine supply committee said. 

“More than 300,000 slots of the second round of the AstraZeneca vaccine booking have been booked. We understand that many are still unable to do so. Please try again shortly,” it said.

It is understood that the government has acquired more than 559,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine for the second rollout. 

With the latest delivery, the total number of AstraZeneca vaccine received from the Covid-19 Vaccine Global Access stood at 828,000 doses.

As of yesterday, some 2,583,048 vaccine doses have been administered to the population. 

This number covers both first and second doses. – May 26, 2021.
