12 Hari Raya-related clusters detected so far, D-G braces for more

TWELVE Covid-19 clusters linked to Hari Raya celebrations have been detected by health authorities on the 14th day of the festive season, said Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said the clusters were found in Sabah, Kelantan, Labuan Pahang, Penang, Sarawak and Selangor.
“This number is expected to grow and may involve more states,” Noor Hisham said in a Facebook post.
He said the clusters have seen over 470 Covid-19 cases with one death in the Jalan Tahir Manan cluster in Selangor.
Some 2,541 people have been screened from these clusters.
Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said two patients from the Simpang Sahari cluster in Labuan are currently in critical care.
Malaysia reported a record high 7,478 Covid-19 cases today, surpassing its highest count of 7,289 from yesterday.
The country also reported a record high fatality count of 63 deaths. – May 26, 2021.
