LIM Guan Eng said he discussed economic issues and the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic during his audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong today.

The DAP secretary-general said he told the king of the people’s ordeal in facing the pandemic and the kinds of aid needed to help them.

“We also discussed speeding up the vaccination process,” he told reporters at the entrance of Istana Negara.

Lim said he had about an hour-long audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah this afternoon.

He also thanked the king for granting him the audience, and hoped that the king would address the country’s major issues as soon as possible.

Seen arriving just shortly before Lim’s departure was Amanah leader and former defence minister, Mohamad Sabu.

Earlier this morning, PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim had also met with the king.

Like Lim, Anwar also raised several issues in the meeting, including the present situation in the country, people’s confidence, and investors’ confidence.

Anwar said there was no mention of a new government during his meeting with the king.

It is understood that the king will also be meeting other political party leaders tomorrow concerning the current state of the country.

Earlier this morning Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin also had a meeting with the king, believed to be his weekly session with the ruler before chairing the cabinet meeting. – June 9, 2021.
