917 Covid-19 patients in ICU, 64 new deaths

MALAYSIA continued to see record-breaking intensive care unit (ICU) cases for the 37th day running, after reporting 917 cases today.
The record has been broken on a daily basis since May 6 when 354 cases were reported.
Meanwhile, 452 patients need respiratory support as of noon today.
Recoveries continued on an encouraging trend after 8,163 people recuperated from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
With this, the total number of recoveries now stood at 580,276.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 claimed the lives of 64 people. The new fatalities have raised the death toll to 3,908.
Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the country fell to 73,324 from 76,247 yesterday.
Selangor reported the most number of deaths with 15 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (10), Johor (7) and Kedah (6).
Negri Sembilan and Pahang reported five fatalities each while Sarawak and Labuan reported four each.
Sabah and Kelantan reported two deaths each while Penang, Perak, Malacca and Terengganu saw one each.
There were six dead on arrival cases.
The youngest person to succumb to Covid-19 on the list today is a 21-year-old man who died at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Negri Sembilan. He suffered from blood pressure and brain haemorrhage.
The oldest casualties were an 88-year-old woman in Kuala Lumpur and a man in Labuan. Both were dead on arrival cases.
The woman suffered from obesity while the man had seizures and dementia. – June 13, 2021.
