Covid-19 infectivity rate up again to 0.97

THE country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (RT) increased marginally by 0.01 to 0.97 yesterday, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Negri Sembilan was the only state to report an RT of above 1.0 with 1.05. Johor, on the other hand, reported a reading of 1.0.

All other states reported a reading of below 1.0. 

The effective reproduction number or RT has been fluctuating over the last seven days. 

The RT, which was at 0.90 on June 12, increased steadily to 0.94 on June 15. 

It then dipped to 0.93 the following day before rising to 0.95 on June 17. 

The RT indicates the number of new infections estimated to stem from a single case. 

Yesterday, the country reported 5,293 new Covid-19 cases against 5,941 recoveries and 60 deaths. – June 21, 2021.
