4,743 new Covid-19 cases

NEW Covid-19 cases remained in the 4,000-mark for the second consecutive day, after Malaysia reported 4,743 infections.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases brought the national caseload to 705,762.
Selangor again logged the most number with 1,566 cases followed by Kuala Lumpur with 635 cases.
Other states which logged new infections were Johor with 239 cases, Sabah (193), Sarawak (507) Negri Sembilan (585), Kelantan (165), Penang (195), Perak (68), Kedah (142), Malacca (167), Pahang (131), Terengganu (37) and Labuan (104).
Meanwhile, Putrajaya and Perlis reported the least number of cases with seven and two cases respectively.
Yesterday, the country reported 4,611 new cases, the lowest since May 17.
On a related note, 235,623 doses of vaccine were administered under the vaccination drive yesterday.
This is the highest number of daily vaccinations reported so far.
This brings the total number of doses administered as of 11.59pm yesterday to 6.05 million.
Of this, 1.66 million people or 5.1% of the population have completed their two-dose schedule, while 4.38 million or 13.4% of the population has received one dose.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said yesterday that the government wants to immunise 10% of the population against Covid-19 by mid-July. – June 22, 2021.
