83 Covid-19 deaths today

MALAYSIA reported 83 fatalities from Covid-19 today, of which seven were dead-on-arrival (DOA) cases, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The new fatalities have raised the national death toll to 4,637.
Six out of the seven DOA cases had pre-existing health conditions while no information was available for the seventh patient, a 47-year-old man in Kelantan.
The youngest person to succumb to the coronavirus today was a 26-year-old man who had high blood pressure and dyslipidemia, while the oldest was a 93-year-old woman who died at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah hospital in Klang, Selangor.
Meanwhile, intensive care unit (ICU) cases increased marginally to 879 from 875 yesterday. Of this, 433 patients are on respiratory support.
Selangor reported 35 deaths, the highest by state, followed by Kuala Lumpur with nine cases and Johor with eight.
Sabah and Negri Sembilan reported seven cases each, Kelantan reported six cases, while Sarawak and Labuan reported three cases.
Perak reported two cases, and Kedah, Malacca, and Perlis registered one death each.
Recoveries continued to outstrip new cases today after 6,372 people recovered from Covid-19. The active caseload is 60,816.
Inclusive of today’s figures, there have been 645,553 recoveries.
There were 5,244 new cases reported today, of which seven were imported. The new cases brought the total caseload to 711,006. – June 23, 2021.
