Number of workplace clusters still on the rise

FIFTEEN out of the 24 new Covid-19 clusters reported by the Health Ministry today were linked to workplaces, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The health director-general said the authorities also detected seven clusters linked to community transmissions.

The 15 workplace clusters on the list today were:

1. Industri Jalan Bacang in Gombak, Selangor– 38 cases

2. Warisan Puteri Construction Site in Sepang, Selangor – 65 cases

3. Jalan Perdagangan Alam Jaya in Kuala Selangor, Selangor – 19 cases

4. Jalan Enam Selatan in Petaling, Sepang, Kuala Langat, Klang and Hulu Langat, Selangor – 92 cases

5. Jalan Bandar Satu in Gombak, Selangor – 25 cases

6. Industri Jalan Kidamai Dua in Hulu Langat, Selangor – 18 cases

7. Industri Perusahaan Utama in Hulu Langat, Selangor – 30 cases

8. Industri Jalan Macalister in Timur Laut and Seberang Perai Utara, Penang – 21 cases

9. Tingkat Perusahaan 6A in Seberang Perai Tengah, Seberang Perai Utara, and Seberang Perai Selatan, Penang – 14 cases

10. Industri Jalan Usaha Dua in Melaka Tengah and Alor Gajah, Malacca – 31 cases

11. Jalan Mangga Satu in Melaka Tengah, Malacca – 25 cases

12. Jalan Raja Bot in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur – 19 cases

13. Jalan Kukuban in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur – 34 cases

14. Jalan Kempas Permatang in Johor Baru, Johor – 8 cases

15. Pasar Kemunting in Kuantan, Pahang – 17 cases

The workplace clusters were detected at factories, service companies and construction sites.

Four of the community clusters on the list today were in Sarawak. These were Nanga Tada in Kanowit (107 cases), Jalan Kuala Tatau in Tatau and Bintulu (22 cases), Sg Katok in Meradong (34 cases) and Tanjong in Lelengau in Pakan (52 cases).

The remaining three clusters were Lorong Tun Mamat Dua in Malacca (28 cases), Kg Segambut Dalam in Kuala Lumpur (70 cases) and Jerung Surau in Terengganu (33 cases).

Completing the list today was the Tembok Jelebu detention centre cluster with 44 infections and the Jalan Sepang cluster of 18 cases which involved a high-risk group at a dialysis centre.

Noor Hisham also said that there are currently 851 active clusters of infection in the country. – June 23, 2021.
