82 Covid-19 fatalities take death toll to 4,803

MALAYSIA reported 82 fatalities from Covid-19 today, which raised the death toll to 4,803, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
However, the director-general of health said intensive care unit cases increased marginally to 870 from 869 yesterday.
He said of the 870 patients under critical care, 433 are on respiratory support.
On recoveries, Noor Hisham said 6,775 people had recuperated from the coronavirus.
With this, he said, the total number of recoveries now stood at 657,739.
Active cases dipped to 60,117 from 61,162 yesterday, as recoveries continued to outnumber the new cases.
There were 5,812 new cases today, of which only 32 were imported.
The new cases have taken the national caseload to 722,659.
There were 17 dead on arrival cases today, of which 11 victims had pre-existing health conditions. The information of the health history of the other six deceased was not available.
The oldest person to succumb to the coronavirus today was an 89-year-old man who died at the Shah Alam Hospital. He suffered from diabetes, high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, chronic lung and kidney disease.
The youngest is a 24-year-old woman who died at the Selayang Hospital. The deceased had diabetes, blood pressure and chronic kidney disease.
Selangor reported the most deaths with 31 cases followed by Kuala Lumpur (18), Johor (8), Negri Sembilan (5) and Sarawak (4 cases).
Labuan and Kedah reported three cases each while Penang and Kelantan reported two cases.
Sabah, Perak and Malacca reported one case each. – June 25, 2021.
