Klang Valley continues to report the most Covid-19 cases

MALAYSIA reported 5,586 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, with the Klang Valley yet again accounting for a bulk of the infections.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases had taken the national caseload to 734,048 cases.

Selangor continued to top the state tally with 2,212 cases followed by Kuala Lumpur with 628 infections.

This was followed by Sarawak and Negri Sembilan, which reported 513 and 501 cases respectively.

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases were Johor (312), Sabah (190), Kelantan (133), Penang (138), Perak (229), Kedah (129), Malacca (380), Pahang (118), Terengganu (16), Labuan (83) and Putrajaya (4).

Perlis was the only state to not report new infections.

In a related note, the number of vaccinations administered under the national immunisation drive dipped to 187,877 yesterday, after keeping above the 200,000 mark over the course of five days.

The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), said a total of 132,279 doses administered yesterday were first doses while 55,598 were second doses.

This brings the total number of doses administered as of 11.59pm on June 26 to 7.22 million.

Meanwhile, 2.02 million people or 6.2% of the population have been inoculated with both doses while 5.20 million or 15.9% of the population had received one dose. – June 27, 2021.
