PUTRAJAYA has allocated RM400 million to increase vaccine supplies to expedite the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin said with the additional orders for vaccines, the government will have enough jabs to immunise 130% of the population compared with 120% previously.

He added that the additional supplies will also enable the government to start inoculating 6.4 million teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18.

“Pupils sitting for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia this year will be prioritised,” he said when unveiling the Pemulih economic aid package today.

He said this is part of the slew of measures taken to step up vaccination. A total of RM1 billion has been allocated for these efforts.

He said the special allowance for 14,000 front-liners involved in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme will be increased to RM600 from RM200 for six months starting next month.

Meanwhile, he said employers registered with the Human Resource Development Corp can claim up to 10% of their levy contribution to vaccinate their employees under the Public-Private Partnership Covid-19 Industry Immunisation Programme.

Tax rebates will also be given to employers for vaccination costs such as expenses on vaccination centres, equipment and service.

He said a total of RM150 million was allocated to alleviate the burden of companies and to spur vaccination of the economic sector via the industry programme. – June 28, 2021.
