More than half of the 6,276 Covid-19 new cases today are from the Klang Valley

THE Klang Valley accounted for more than half of the 6,276 new Covid-19 cases reported over the last 24 hours, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Health Ministry director-general said the fresh cases took the national caseload to 751,979.

Selangor was in the lead with 2,836 cases followed by Negri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur with 644 and 625 cases respectively.

Other states that reported new cases were Sarawak (376), Kelantan (159), Penang (131) Perak (137), Kedah (226), Malacca (223), Pahang (210), Terengganu (20), Labuan (132) and Putrajaya (11).

Perlis reported the lowest number of cases with five infections.

On a related note, 231,733 doses of vaccine were administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme yesterday.

Of this 147,783 were first doses whereas 83,950 were second doses.

This brings the total number of doses administered under the NIP to 7.82 million, of which 2.21 million or 6.8% of the population have been fully inoculated with both doses. – June 30, 2021.
