A TOTAL of 263,012 vaccine doses were administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme yesterday, with 84,864 people completing their two-dose schedule.
The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said the remaining 178,148 received their first jab.
This is the second highest number of daily vaccinations conducted under the immunisation drive, which began on February 24.
Yesterday’s number has raised the cumulative number of doses administered so far to 8.34 million.
Of this, 2.39 million people or 7.3% of the population have been fully immunised with the two-dose schedule. The remaining 5.95 million or 18.2% people have received their first dose.
Putrajaya continued to have the highest rate of vaccination at 25.4% of the registered population while 27,950 people have completed their two doses.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said recently that the government wants to immunise 10% of the population against Covid-19 by mid-July.
This will mean that about 10.7 million doses will have to be administered within the time frame.
Khairy also said for every 100 doses administered, 30 are second doses. – July 2, 2021.
