Second day of new Covid-19 cases above 7,000, Selangor accounts for over 40%

MALAYSIA today recorded 7,097 new Covid-19 cases, surpassing the 7,000 mark for the second day in a row.
Prior to yesterday, which saw 7,654 new cases, the country had a week of daily infections trending above 6,000.
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today that Selangor continues to account for the bulk of the cases with 3,119 infections.
It is followed by Kuala Lumpur, which reported 1,005 cases, Negri Sembilan (788) and Malacca (358).
The numbers reported in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor today indicate that the Klang Valley alone recorded 4,124 cases – more than half of the infections detected nationwide.
The Klang Valley is currently observing a two-week enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) after Covid-19 cases continued to spike despite various MCOs implemented.
In total, the country has recorded 799,790 Covid-19 cases since the onset of the pandemic. – July 7, 2021.
