New Covid-19 cases fall below 9,000, Selangor logs 4,308 infections

AFTER hovering above the 9,000 mark over the last three days, Malaysia saw a dip in new Covid-19 cases today with 8,574 new infections reported in the past 24 hours.
Selangor accounted for more than half of the cases today with 4,308 infections. This was followed by Negri Sembilan with 794 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 609.
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases have raised the cumulative caseload to 844,870.
The other states, which reported new cases were Johor (407), Sabah (298), Sarawak (235 ), Penang (231), Kelantan (133), Perak (168), Kedah (415), Malacca (411), Pahang (314), Terengganu (140), Labuan (66) and Putrajaya (45).
Perlis was the only state that did not report any infection.
The country reported 9,180 cases on July 9, before hitting a record-breaking 9,353 cases on the next day. Aanother 9,105 cases were reported yesterday.
On another note, 11.36 million doses of vaccine have been administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme as of yesterday.
A total of 7.84 million were administered as first doses covering 33.5% of the adult population in Malaysia, while 3.52 million people or 15.1% of the adult population in the country have been fully immunised. – July 12, 2021.
