Record high 972 Covid-19 patients in ICU, 125 new deaths

MALAYSIA today reported a record high of 972 Covid-19 patients in intensive care units (ICU), with a daily death toll of 125.

Active cases have also reached a new high today with 96,236 Malaysians who are currently ill with Covid-19, an increase from the 91,272 active cases reported yesterday.
 
Health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 456 patients in ICU need breathing assistance.
 
The country’s overall death toll is now at 6,385.
 
Earlier today, Noor Hisham announced that Malaysia has reported a record-breaking 11,079 new infections in the past 24 hours. This is also the first time the daily caseload has hit five figures.
 
Meanwhile, Covid-19 recoveries stand at an all-time high at 5,990 cases, which has brought the total recoveries to 753,328.

16 dead-on-arrival cases were also recorded today, most of which involved victims with pre-existing health conditions. 

The youngest victim was a 21-year-old man who died in the Sungai Buloh Hospital. The deceased suffered from obesity.

The oldest victim was a 94-year-old woman with a history of high blood pressure. She was brought in dead to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Selangor reported the highest number of fatalities today with 57 deaths, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 20, Negeri Sembilan with 13, and Malacca with nine.

Kedah and Johor reported seven deaths respectively, while Pahang recorded three fatalities.

Penang, Perak, Sabah, and Sarawak reported two deaths each, while Kelantan recorded one fatality. – July 13, 2021.
