More than 100,000 in Malaysia being treated for Covid-19 now

ACTIVE cases nationwide crossed the 100,000 mark today as an alarming 101,359 patients in Malaysia are currently ill with Covid-19, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
This is the first time the number of active cases have broken the six-figure mark.
Meanwhile, 878 are in the intensive care unit, while 432 patients are on respiratory support.
Noor Hisham said the virus has also claimed the lives of 118 patients in the past 24 hours, out of which 13 are dead-on-arrival (DOA) cases.
This raises the total death count to 6,503.
However, the profiles of the deceased, which have been part of the Ministry of Health’s daily Covid-19 update since the start of the pandemic, was not included in today’s statement.
The update usually contains particulars such as the victim’s age, health history, and place of death.
Selangor continues to report the highest number of deaths with 46 fatalities, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 18, Negri Sembilan with 16, Johor with 13, and Kedah with five.
Sabah and Sarawak recorded four cases respectively while Labuan, Kelantan, Perak, Pahang, and Malacca reported two fatalities each.
Penang and Terengganu reported one death each. – July 14, 2021.
