344,961 doses of vaccine administered yesterday

DAILY Covid-19 vaccines administered under the national immunisation programme dipped for the second consecutive day yesterday to 344,961, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) said.

The daily vaccination numbers remained above the 400,000 mark from July 12-16, even reaching a record high of 460,158 on July 15 before dipping to 380,440 on July 17.

A total of 244,761 people received their first jab yesterday while the remaining 100,200 completed their second dose.

Prior to yesterday, a total of 421,479 doses were administered on July 12, 424,541 on July 13, a record-high of 460,158 on July 15 and 406,763 on July 16.

The cumulative number of doses administered under the national Covid-19 vaccination drive, which began on February 24, now stands at 14.34 million.

Of this, 9.81 million or 30.1% of the population have been partially vaccinated with one dose while 13.9% or 4.53 million people have been fully immunised with two doses.

Labuan is in the lead with the highest vaccination rate – 59.7% of its population having received one dose and 42.6% completing their two-dose schedule.

The government is looking to vaccinate all senior citizens in the Klang Valley with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the next few weeks.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said it was in line with the decision that this group be allowed to get their vaccine shots on a walk-in basis at all vaccination centres (PPV) and government health facilities in the Klang Valley beginning July 17. – July 19, 2021.
