Walk-in vaccinations only for those without appointments, says task force

WALK-in vaccinations are only for those who have been missed out and have yet to get their appointments, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) said today.
The clarification came following the circulation of viral messages claiming that vaccination centres in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will accept walk-ins from August 1.
CITF said members of the public who already have their appointments will not be allowed to walk-in.
“An example of those who have yet to get their appointments are those who do not have identification or travel documents.
“This was explained by the coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin on July 16,” CITF said in a statement today.
Khairy had said that those who are unaccounted for in the Department of Statistics Malaysia’s system but are residents of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor could walk in after August 1.
He said this included those who are without any documents or undocumented migrants, among others.
Individuals in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor who have registered will get their appointments in the near future. Those who have yet to register and have the means to do so are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
“Vaccination centres which will accept walk-ins will be announced later. Those which are currently in operation may not necessarily allow walk-ins,” it said.
Those who have appointments were told to only be present on the given date and location, considering that a more aggressive and infectious variant is doing the rounds.
Currently, walk-ins are only permitted for senior citizens in the Klang Valley. – July 19, 2021.
