New Covid-19 cases remain in 10,000 range for second day running

THE daily Covid-19 tally rose marginally today after 10,972 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

With today’s cases, the national caseload now stands at 927,533. Yesterday, the country reported 10,710 cases.

Selangor led the tally with 4,404 cases, followed by Negri Sembilan (1,340), Johor (876) and Kedah (705). 

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases were Kuala Lumpur (609), Sabah (651), Sarawak (301), Penang (426), Kelantan (170), Perak (324), Malacca (474), Pahang (475), Terengganu (144), Labuan (24) and Putrajaya (48).

Perlis reported only one case.

Noor Hisham also said to date, 14.34 million vaccine doses have been administered under the national Covid-19 vaccination drive with 344,961 doses given out yesterday.

Of this, 9.81 million people or 30.1% of the population have been vaccinated with one dose while 4.53 million people or 13.9% of the population have been fully immunised. – July 19, 2021.
