446,052 Covid-19 jabs given yesterday

MALAYSIA administered 446,052 doses of Covid-19 vaccines yesterday, the special committee for ensuring access to Covid-19 vaccine supply said today.
A total of 282,980 people received their first dose, while the remaining 163,072 completed both jabs.
With the latest figures, 10.5 million or 32.4% of the total population have now received their first dose of the vaccine, while the remaining 4.9 million or 15.1% of the population have been fully vaccinated.
The highest number of jabs was administered in the Klang Valley – which includes Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya –with a total of 5.6 million doses given to date, of which 50.8% or 4.2 million were first dose with 16.1% or 1.4 million two doses.
Meanwhile, Labuan remains the state with the highest vaccination rate, with 60.5% of the total population having received their first dose and 46.8% completing both doses.
The government is looking to provide all senior citizens in the Klang Valley with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the next few weeks.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has set a target of all adults in Malaysia to be vaccinated by October, to stem the recent surge in Covid-19 cases.
He said the fast-track approach in the national immunisation programme includes boosting the capacity for vaccinations to 500,000 doses per day, to tackle the emergence of new and more virulent variants of the virus. – July 22, 2021.
