MALAYSIA administered 507,050 Covid-19 shots yesterday – the highest daily count yet, the special committee for vaccine access said today.

A total of 335,977 people received their first dose, while 171,073 took the second to complete the course.

Selangor led the tally with 131,222 jabs, 95,278 of which were first doses. The state is also the leader in logging the highest number of infections, with 338,000.

Overall, Malaysia has recorded 964,018 cases and 7,574 deaths.

Kuala Lumpur came in second in yesterday’s daily shots, with 88, 383 doses.

In total, 1.4 million people in the Klang Valley have been fully vaccinated, while 4.4 million have received their first dose. 

Nationwide, 5.1 million, or 15.6% of the population have had two shots, and 10.9 million, or 33.4% of the population, have had one.

The government is looking to provide senior citizens in the Klang Valley with at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, among the states and federal territories, Labuan has the highest vaccination rate, with 60.8% of its residents jabbed once and 48.6% twice. – July 23, 2021.
