New Covid-19 cases drop to 14,516

MALAYSIA recorded 14,516 new Covid-19 cases, a dip from yesterday’s 17,045, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
This took the national caseload to 1,027,954.
Selangor continued to report the highest daily count with 6,508 cases, taking its tally since the start of the pandemic to 373,977 cases.
Kuala Lumpur reported 1,425 cases, which means the Klang Valley accounted for 7,933 infections – more than half of the fresh cases in the past 24 hours.
Cases were also high in Johor with 1,449 new infections, Kedah (1,160), Sabah (720), Perak (590), Negri Sembilan (452), Penang (402), Pahang (386), Malacca (373), Sarawak (356), Kelantan (346), Terengganu (245), Putrajaya (94), Labuan (eight) and Perlis (two).
Meanwhile, the country administered 399,135 vaccine doses under the national Covid-19 immunisation programme yesterday.
A total of 281,481 people received their first dose while 117,654 others got their second shot to complete the course.
Government data shows that 16.9% of the population or 5.5 million people have been fully vaccinated while 36.1% of the population or 11.7 million people have received their first dose. – July 26, 2021.
