New high of more than 520,000 vaccines administered yesterday

MALAYSIA administered 521,923 Covid-19 shots yesterday, the highest daily count yet, the special committee for Covid-19 vaccine access said today.

The last time healthcare workers administered more than 500,000 doses was on July 22 when 507,050 jabs were given.

Of the total shots yesterday, a total of 333,621 people received their first dose, and 188,302 received their second dose to complete the course.

Most populous state Selangor led the tally with 130,187 jabs, including 83,100 first doses. Meanwhile, at 373,977, Selangor has also logged the highest number of infections.

Overall, Malaysia has recorded 1,027,954 cases and 8,201 deaths.

Kuala Lumpur recorded the second highest number of daily shots yesterday, with 85,647 doses.

In total, 1.7 million people in the Klang Valley have been vaccinated, while a further 4.9 million people have received their first dose.

Nationwide, 5.7 million, or 17.5% of the population have had two shots, and 12.1 million, or 37.1% of the population, have had one.

Out of the population, 24.4% accounts for adults who have been vaccinated. Meanwhile, 51.8% of adults have received their first dose. – July 27, 2021.
