More than 500,000 Covid-19 jabs administered for second day in a row

HEALTHCARE workers administered 553,871 Covid-19 shots yesterday, the third day more than 500,000 doses had been given and the most so far in one day, during the government’s inoculation drive.
Previously, on July 23, workers administered 507, 050 jabs and yesterday with 521,923.
The special committee for vaccine access said today that 356,112 people received their first dose yesterday, while 197, 759 took the second to complete the course.
Nationwide, 5.9 million, or 18.1% of the population have had two shots, and 12.4 million, or 38.2% of the population, have had one.
Out of the population, 25.2% accounts for adults who have been vaccinated, while 53.3% of adults have received their first dose.
With 141,182 jabs, Selangor leads by state, of which 84,409 were first doses.
Kuala Lumpur recorded 93,117 doses.
In total, 1.8 million people in the Klang Valley have been vaccinated, while 5.1 million have received their first dose.
Meanwhile, Selangor has logged 380,593 Covid-19 infections, the highest by state.
Overall, Malaysia has recorded 1,044,071 cases and 8,408 deaths. – July 28, 2021.
