Healthcare workers administer 552,701 Covid-19 doses in past 24 hours

HEALTH authorities administered 552,701 Covid-19 shots yesterday, the third day more than 500,000 jabs had been given through the national immunisation programme.
The special committee for vaccine access said 353,771 people received their first dose yesterday, while 198,930 others received the second dose to complete the vaccination course.
Nationwide, 6.1 million, or 39.3% of the population have had two shots, and 12.8 million people have had one.
Selangor headed the states count yesterday with 146,011 people vaccinated, of which 96,135 received their first dose while in Kuala Lumpur, a total of 89,696 people were vaccinated yesterday.
Overall, 1.9 million people in the Klang Valley have been vaccinated, while 5.2 million have received their first dose.
The Klang Valley has seen the highest number of cases since the start of the pandemic with 504,577 infections and 4,041 deaths.
Nationwide, Malaysia has recorded 1,061,476 cases and 8,551 deaths.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin told the Dewan Rakyat on Monday the immunisation programme will be further intensified to achieve the target of 100% adult inoculation by October, compared to the original plan of 80% by the first quarter of 2022. – July 29, 2021.
