Healthcare workers administer more than 500,000 Covid-19 jabs a day, for 4 straight days

HEALTH authorities administered 556,404 shots of Covid-19 vaccines yesterday, the fourth consecutive day that more than 500,000 jabs have been delivered through the national immunisation programme. 

The special committee for Covid-19 vaccine access said 343,530 people received their first dose yesterday, while 212,874 others received the second dose to complete their vaccination course.

In total, 6.3 million or 19.3% of the population have been vaccinated, while 13.1 million or 40.4% have received their first dose. 

Selangor, which has been topping the daily Covid-19 infections by state, administered a total of 239,318 jabs yesterday.

The committee said the state has successfully vaccinated 32.6% of its adult population, while 87.8% have received their first dose.

In Kuala Lumpur, a total of 85,096 people were vaccinated yesterday.

Both these figures mean that the Klang Valley has 2 million people or 23.9% of its population vaccinated, while and 5.4 million people or 64.3% have had their first dose.

Yesterday, the Klang Valley accounted for 54% of the Covid-19 infections with 9,301 cases. 

The government is aiming to vaccinate 100% of its adult population by October, a target of 80% initially set for December but which has been brought forward. – July 30, 2021.
