KL construction site with 428 cases among 23 new Covid-19 clusters

THE Jalan Impian Indah construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur was today’s biggest new Covid-19 cluster, with 428 positive cases, among a list of 23 groups reported by the Health Ministry today.
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cluster was one of 11 workplace clusters on the list today.
The cluster was detected following a screening exercise involving the workers of a construction site at Jalan Impian Indah, Bukit Jalil, in Kuala Lumpur.
Apart from that, the Industri Jalan Padang Tembak 2 cluster in Kota Baru, Kelantan, which reported 24 cases, was the second cluster detected in the same premises.
The cluster involved the workers of a factory at Pengkalan Chepa II in Kota Bahru.
Other workplace clusters on the list today were:
1. Industri Jalan Gemilang in Kluang, Johor (24 cases)
2. Industri Tanjung Kulai in Kulai, Johor (13 cases)
3. Jalan Tembaga Dua in Johor Baru, Johor (13 cases)
4. Jalan Angkasa Mas Utama in Johor Baru, Johor (14 cases)
5. Jalan Bertam Lima in Johor Baru, Johor (16 cases)
6. Industri Jalan Tunjong in Kota Baru, Machang and Tumpat, Kelantan (6 cases)
7. MIEL Batang Kali in Hulu Selangor, Selangor (22 cases)
8. Jalan Ong Yi How in Seberang Perai Utara, Penang (20 cases)
9. Industri Tanjung Bruas in Melaka Tengah, Malacca (99 cases)
Most of these clusters were detected at factories.
Apart from that, there were also eight clusters stemming from community transmission. The biggest of these was the Tembidong Bidong cluster in Telupid and Beluran, Sabah, which stemmed from visits during festivities. The cluster reported 88 cases.
Completing the list today, were one detention centre cluster, two high-risk clusters and one at a higher education facility.
Noor Hisham said there are currently 1,116 active clusters in the country. – August 1, 2021.
