THE Institute of Medical Research has identified 47 patients infected with Covid-19 variants, all of which are variants of concern (VOC), director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

Of the number, 46 are of the Delta variant, and one Beta.

He said this brings the cumulative number of cases infected with the variants categorised as VOC and variants of interest (VOI) to 667 cases.

Of the total detected, 647 cases were VOC, while 20 cases were VOI.

To date, for the VOC, there have been 209 cases of Beta variant, Delta (424) and Alpha (14).

While for VOI, there have been 13 cases of Theta variant, Kappa (4), and Eta (3).

Malaysia recorded 19,991 cases and 201 deaths in the past 24 hours. – August 10, 2021.
