Daily Covid-19 cases back in 20,000 mark

MALAYSIA reported 20,780 new Covid-19 cases today, which is the second-highest daily count so far, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
The daily tally was also back in the 20,000-mark after trending in the 17,000-19,000 range for four days.
The last time the daily tally exceeded 20,000 was on August 6, when a record high of 20,889 cases were reported.
The Health director-general said today’s cases raised the national total to 1,320,547.
Selangor topped the tally with 6,921 cases followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,065.
States reporting more than a thousand fresh infections today are Johor (1,693), Sabah (1,514), Negri Sembilan (1,015), Kedah (1,534), Penang (1,385) and Kelantan (1,284).
Other states and federal territories which reported new cases today were Sarawak (634), Perak (828), Malacca (636), Pahang (585),Terengganu (613), Putrajaya (41) and Perlis (29).
Labuan, which has the highest rate of vaccination, reported only three cases.
Meanwhile, 25.3 million doses of vaccine have been dispensed under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme as of yesterday.
About 68.9%, or 16.1 million of the adult population, have received one dose, while 39.5% or 9.2 million have received two doses. – August 11, 2021.
