MALAYSIA has hit yet another record-breaking high of daily Covid-19 cases with 21,668 infections reported in the past 24 hours.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the latest cases raised the national caseload to 1,342,215.

The previous high was reported six days ago, when 20,889 cases were recorded on August 6.

Selangor continued log the highest number of cases with 6,278 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,436, Kedah (2,143) and Sabah (2,052).

Meanwhile, three other states reported more than a thousand infections, namely Johor (1,706), Sarawak (1,216) and Penang (1,229).

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases are Negri Sembilan (899), Kelantan (972), Perak (930), Malacca (494), Terengganu (594), Labuan (11), Putrajaya (56) and Perlis (23).

On separate note, 40.7% of the adult Malaysian population has been vaccinated with both doses.

A total of 9.51 million adults in Malaysia have now completed their two-dose schedule, while 16.34 million or 69.8% have received their first jab. – August 12, 2021.
