PUTRAJAYA is studying the possibility of making the Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for all Malaysians to address rejection from anti-vaxxers, said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said the details of making vaccination mandatory would be decided by the government next month.
“We will first study the reasons why the anti-vaxxers are against vaccination. Is it because they are sick, or deliberately do not believe in the vaccine?
“With various variants such as Delta, vaccine recipients can also be infected by them (anti-vaxxers), which then will give problems to the country,” he said in a press conference after visiting the Taman Tamadun Islam Integration Vaccination centre in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu today.
Muhyiddin said another 590,000 doses of vaccine will be sent to Terengganu this month to increase the percentage of vaccine recipients in the state.
Muhyiddin was in Terengganu for an official trip during which he visited PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang at his residence in Marang.
Muhyiddin said there were no political reasons for his meeting with Hadi today. – August 12, 2021.
