20,546 new Covid-19 cases today

MALAYSIA recorded 20,546 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a slight dip from yesterday’s numbers, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
Yesterday, the country recorded 20,670 cases. On Friday, the country reported its highest daily infection with 21,468 cases.
Most of the cases reported over the past few weeks are from Categories 1 and 2, which are asymptomatic and mild symptom cases.
Of today’s total, the Klang Valley reported 8,749 new cases, with Selangor forming the bulk of the infections with 7,307 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,442 cases.
Meanwhile, other states that reported more than a thousand infections are Johor (1,508), Sabah (1,665), Kedah (1,596), Penang (1,111) and Kelantan (1,025).
Other states and federal territories that reported new cases are Sarawak (963), Negri Sembilan (698), Malacca (631), Pahang (926), Terengganu (534), Putrajaya (47), Perlis (21), and Labuan (3).
A total of 442,150 Covid-19 vaccines shots were administered yesterday, of which 161,049 are first dose jabs and 281,101 are second dose jabs.
So far, more than 40% of the adult population in Malaysia have been fully vaccinated and 50% of the total population have received at least their first dose of the vaccine. – August 10, 2021.
