HEALTH authorities administered 415,875 shots of Covid-19 vaccines yesterday, taking the total number of those vaccinated to 10.7 million or 32.9% of the population.

The special committee for Covid-19 vaccine access said 143,671 people received their first dose yesterday, while 272,204 others received the second dose to complete their vaccination course.

Based on the latest statistics, 10.7 million or 32.9% of the population have been fully vaccinated, while 17 million or 52.3% have received their first dose.

Labuan has the highest rate of full vaccination, with 88.8% of its adult population, or 60,805 people, having received two doses.

The Klang Valley saw the highest number of doses dispensed, with 6.4 million first jabs and 4.1 million second jabs.

In total, 27.81 million doses of vaccine have been administered since February 24.

The government aims to immunise 50% of the country’s general population by August 31.

Meanwhile, restrictions have been eased for fully vaccinated people in states in Phase 2 of the national recovery plan and beyond.

Those who have had two shots of the vaccine in those states may now dine out, travel inter-district, take local tours, and take part in selected sports. – August 16, 2021.
