709 Covid-19 cases, 23 clusters from workplaces

WORKPLACES formed the bulk of the 39 new Covid-19 clusters reported by the Health Ministry today.

There were 23 workplace clusters, which contributed 709 cases, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

Other clusters involved community transmissions (13), which collectively contributed 462 cases, and two detention centres, which reported 102 cases.

There was also one cluster in the high-risk category, which had 16 cases.

Cumulatively, the 39 clusters contributed to 1,289 cases.

Most of the workplace clusters are linked to factories and construction sites. They are:

  • Tanjung Karang construction site in Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam, Selangor (74 cases);
  • Jalan Eco Hill Satu construction site in Hulu Langat, Selangor (56);
  • Sepang Tani in Sepang, Selangor (45);
  • Industri Jalan 10 Bangi in Hulu Langat, Selangor (44);
  • Industri Perusahaan Dua Batu Caves in Gombak, Selangor (36);
  • Putra Puchong construction site in Sepang, Selangor (21);
  • Jalan Putra Perdana in Sepang, Selangor (19);
  • Bandar Baru Tumpat in Tumpat, Kelantan (21);
  • Pantai Kemayang 2 in Bachok and Kota Baru, Kelantan (14);
  • Jalan Ismail Hilir in Kota Baru, Tumpat and Pasir Mas (nine);
  • Industri Langkasuka in Johor Baru, Johor (35);
  • Industri Jalan Kg Sg Telur in Kota Tinggi, Johor (17);
  • Jalan Pukal Tiga in Johor Baru, Johor (14);
  • Industri Kg Jawa in Jempol and Jelebu, Negri Sembilan (37);
  • Bayu construction site in Seremban, Negri Sembilan (32);
  • Jalan Akses in Sri Aman, Sarawak (14);
  • Jalan Johari Sunam in Bintulu, Sarawak (five);
  • Lebuhraya Bandar Cassia in Seberang Perai Selatan, Seberang Perai Tengah and Timur Laut, Penang (51);
  • Tingkat Selamat Dua in Seberang Perai Utara, Penang (49 );
  • Jalan Seri Utara Satu in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (nine);
  • Ladang Sg Telumung in Bentong, Pahang (33);
  • Ladang Padang Tengku in Lipis, Pahang (18); and
  • Dah 3/3 Industri Sg Petani in Kuala Muda, Kedah (56).

The community transmission clusters are:

  • Teluk Merbau in Sepang, Selangor (48 cases);
  • Sawit Baiduri in Lahad Datu, Sabah (77);
  • Bukit Payung Taboh Naning in Alor Gajah, Malacca (39);
  • Kg Panchor in Besut, Terengganu (35);
  • Dusun Kubor in Jelebu, Negri Sembilan (26);
  • Jalan Dato Usman Awang in Kota Tinggi, Johor (16);
  • Kg Lepar Miak in Gua Musang, Kelantan (21);
  • Kg Kijang in Kota Baru, Kelantan (14);
  • Lorong Wook in Pasir Mas, Kelantan (11);
  • Kg Kubang Rambutan in Pasir Mas, Kelantan (nine);
  • Kg Kakeng in Serian and Tebedu, Sarawak (65);
  • Jalan Lembah Hijau in Miri, Sarawak (31); and
  • Mas Puchong in Sepang, Selangor (70).

As for the two detention centre clusters, the DTI Juru 2 cluster in Seberang Perai Tengah reported 61 cases while Pagar Bertam Satu in Seberang Perai Utara reported 41 cases. Both of these clusters are in Penang.

The sole high-risk cluster is Solok Keramat with 16 cases in Klang, Selangor, involving residents of a care home. – August 17, 2021.
