19,807 new Covid-19 cases

MALAYSIA recorded 19,807 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, after logging more than 20,000 infections for four days, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
The latest figures bring the overall infection count to 1,555,093.
By region, the Klang Valley still records the highest total with 6,378 new infections. Of this, there were 5,379 cases in Selangor and 999 cases in Kuala Lumpur.
This is the first time in weeks that Kuala Lumpur has reported fewer than 1,000 daily cases.
Meanwhile, six other states reported more than 1,000 infections: Sabah with 2,638 infections, Kedah (1,948), Sarawak (1,772), Penang (1,501), Johor (1,391) and Kelantan (1,196).
Other states reporting new cases are: Negri Sembilan (508), Perak (703), Malacca (558), Pahang (598), Terengganu (534), Putrajaya (24), Perlis (54), and Labuan (four).
Meanwhile, 469,690 doses of vaccine were administered yesterday.
The special committee for ensuring access to Covid-19 vaccine supply said 309,898 people received their first dose, while 159,792 received their second dose.
To date, 54.3% of the adult population has been inoculated, while 73.7% has received one dose. – August 22, 2021.
