Covid-19 cases stay in the 20,000 region

MALAYSIA reported 20,579 new Covid-19 infections with eight states logging more than 1,000 cases each in the past 24 hours, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
The director-general of health said the fresh cases raise the national caseload to 1,706,089.
The eight states that recorded more than 1,000 infections are Selangor with 4,591 cases, Sabah (2,578), Johor (1,852), Sarawak (2,522), Kedah (1,755), Penang (1,378) and Kelantan (1,316).
Other states and federal territories that reported fewer than 1,000 cases today are Kuala Lumpur with 680 cases, Negri Sembilan (329), Malacca (636), Pahang (839), Terengganu (789), Putrajaya (48), Perlis (56) and Labuan (2).
A total of 336,646 vaccine doses were administered under the national vaccination drive yesterday.
To date, 61.9% (14.4 million) of the adult population in the country have completed their vaccination, while 82.2% (19.2 million) of the adult population have received their first dose of the vaccine.
Labuan has the highest vaccination rate in the country – with 63,830 people or 93.2% of the adult population in the federal territory fully inoculated. – August 29, 2021.
