49 fully vaccinated people admitted to ICU

THE Health Ministry recorded 6,120 new Covid-19 infections among the fully vaccinated today, a slight increase from yesterday’s 5,893, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
The director-general of health said that of the number, 49 are in intensive care units (ICU).
Of the total, he said 16 are critically ill (category five) and require ventilator support.
The other 33 are in category four where the patients have pneumonia and need oxygen support.
Meanwhile, 41 category three patients are under hospital care and observation.
For breakthrough cases, infections among the fully vaccinated are mild, therefore, the bulk of the new cases today are in the asymptomatic category one (2,884 cases) and mildly symptomatic category two (3,146 cases).
Noor Hisham, however, said a majority of the 19,057 new cases today are unvaccinated people.
A total of 8,544 or 44.8% of the positive cases today have not been vaccinated or have received only one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
There are 5,529 cases in category one, 7,093 in category two and 96 in category three.
As for the advanced stages of infection, there are 90 cases in category four and 129 in category five.
To date, 66.7% (15,606,818) of the nation’s adult population have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine while 86.6% (20,261,734) have got their first shot, according to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply. – September 4, 2021.
