20,396 new Covid-19 cases

MALAYSIA reported 20,396 new Covid-19 infections after four days of registering cases below the 20,000 mark, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
The director-general of health said eight states logged more than 1,000 cases each in the past 24 hours, with Sarawak recording a record high of 3,747 infections.
The state’s previous high was on September 2 at 2,992 infections.
Noor Hisham said the fresh cases raised the national caseload to 1,844,835.
The eight states that recorded more than 1,000 new infections are Selangor (3,886), Sabah (2,136), Johor (2,165), Kedah (1,587), Penang (1,961), Kelantan (1,078,) and Perak (1,057).
Other states and federal territories that reported fewer than 1,000 cases today are Kuala Lumpur (597), Negri Sembilan (269), Malacca (459), Pahang (486), Terengganu (861), Putrajaya (25), Perlis (78) and Labuan (four).
Health authorities administered 300,501 Covid-19 vaccine doses yesterday, taking the total number of fully vaccinated adults in Malaysia to 15,722,760, or 67.4%.
The special committee for Covid-19 vaccine access said 134,559 people received their first dose yesterday while 165,942 others received their second.
To date, 20,401,824 people, or 87.2% of the country’s adult population, have received their first shot.
The Klang Valley overtook Labuan yesterday as the federal territory/state with the highest rate of full vaccination, at 5,901,965, or 95.7% of its adult population. – September 5, 2021.
